Reboot your Combi

with 2 comments

On Friday I was walking back from town along South Terrace and saw Reboot (or Mr. Boot as I always call him in my head) doing a new piece. So I headed home grabbed my camera and popped back to take a few photos of his work in progress.

I learned from this encounter that stenciling is a time consuming process especially when you have to grapple and balance on make-shift scaffolding.

The Hulbert Street Sustainability Fiesta

with 3 comments

This weekend Hulbert Street, South Fremantle hosted a sustainability fiesta. There was a selection of stalls, talks, entertainment and demonstrations all focused on green living.

Hulbert Street got dressed up for the occasion.

Handmade Signs

I liked the fine selection of hand made signs on the various different stalls.

Sustainable Homes

Sustainable Homes: There were some conceptual house designs on display.

Sustainable Home

Channeling Frank Lloyd Wright: I would actually live in this house I love the floor to ceiling windows (double glazed I'm sure) on the first floor.

Sustainable Home

My Little Sustainable Home: This one is really on the ball with the insulation WA needs to get up to EU standards for zero-energy buildings.

Barrow

This wheel barrow reminded me of the work of Magda Sayeg who did something similar on a Smart Car.

Dismantle

Dismantle: These guys have a great idea... recycling old bicycles but in a non-profit kind of way.

Teacups

Many of the street's houses were open to the public so you could see how a sustainable home can look and function including The Painted Fish. Here's a picture of some tea cups from the kitchen cause I liked the way they looked.

Chickens

Even chickens appreciate a bit of art work.

Lemonade

These ladies were on the ball: cold drinks that were priced to sell. They gave the $7 smoothies near by a run for their money and they also had a system in place that recycled the used cups.

I was walking the hound up at Lancelin recently and I spotted this stencil on the path beside the beach…
