Boom Boom Boom The Indian Ocean Skyshow
We got a bit of a surprise when we went down to Bathers Beach last night to watch the fireworks… People, so many people. We walked past the Esplanade along the Mews road down by the harbour and on to the beach at the boardwalk ramp. Everywhere was busy despite the heat (35° at 8pm) and there was a great atmosphere as folks set up camp with blankets and Eskys. Last year I remember wishing I brought a blanket it was that cold.
The firework barge looked a lot closer than 300 metres away and the clouds from the approaching storm made for a really nice sunset before the real show began. City of Fremantle and Cockburn nice work looking forward to next year.

The Indian Ocean Skyshow
The largest Australia day fireworks display over the Indian Ocean ever.
“Fremantle’s Australia Day celebration is definitely a major highlight and attracts big crowds both during the day and of course for the fireworks display, which will this year be bigger and better than ever.” Brad Pettitt.
You said it Brad.

Fremantle Cracker Night 2011… Like a Painting

Now, was that amazing or what?

Wait, here’s more.

Boom Boom Boom
Cracker Night is back with a bang, as are crappy metaphors.
Need to know information…
Launch Site: the end of the groin at Fremantle Sailing Club.
Best viewing spot (methinks): Capo d’Orlando Drive, have a look at my map from last year, I recommend the spot for maximum cracker pleasure.
There’s other stuff on beforehand from 4.30pm but personally I only have eyes for the bright lights in the sky and will be humming this from now until then.

Fremantle Cracker Night 2010
Perth Skyworks is so last year Fremantle Cracker Night is the new black.
The fireworks were launched as soon as it was dark from the end of the groin at Fremantle Yacht Club. We went down Capo d’Orlando Drive to position ourselves right under them. Everybody was sitting up on the big boulders at the side of the road directly across from the launch area so when they went-off it was directly overhead. It was windy (as usual) so there was a lovely effect as the fireworks floated across the sky.
I won’t bore you with too many photos because fireworks are a you-had-to-be-there kind of thing.
