Boom Boom Boom The Indian Ocean Skyshow
We got a bit of a surprise when we went down to Bathers Beach last night to watch the fireworks… People, so many people. We walked past the Esplanade along the Mews road down by the harbour and on to the beach at the boardwalk ramp. Everywhere was busy despite the heat (35° at 8pm) and there was a great atmosphere as folks set up camp with blankets and Eskys. Last year I remember wishing I brought a blanket it was that cold.
The firework barge looked a lot closer than 300 metres away and the clouds from the approaching storm made for a really nice sunset before the real show began. City of Fremantle and Cockburn nice work looking forward to next year.

The Indian Ocean Skyshow
The largest Australia day fireworks display over the Indian Ocean ever.
“Fremantle’s Australia Day celebration is definitely a major highlight and attracts big crowds both during the day and of course for the fireworks display, which will this year be bigger and better than ever.” Brad Pettitt.
You said it Brad.

Kelp, Fremantle’s Beach Bar
Last night Kelp, Kidogo’s beach bar, opened and the weather was perfect. No wind, warm and a great sunset. The Saloon bar at the back was rammed, they couldn’t make the drinks fast enough. Don’t panic there was a guy selling beers from a giant iced tub at the side if you didn’t want to wait in line for a cocktail.

Kelp @ Kidogo
It must have be a few long months for the art house while the boardwalk was being constructed. It’s so great to see that they’re in a prime position for the sailing championships and taking full advantage.
From the 1st Dec 2011 – 18th Dec 2011 from 6am – 10pm you’ll be able to have coffee, breakfast, bush tucker and cocktails at Kidogo. Finally a beach bar… hopefully it goes well and they’ll be able to continue trading as such on a permanent basis. It’s such a perfect spot for an evening drink.
The best way to keep up with all that’s going on is to follow them on Twitter or check out their FaceBook page.

Boardwalk Empire
Check it out. The boardwalk at Bathers Beach is pretty much finished. Shame on me for doubting that it couldn’t be done. There’s also some interesting new sculptures of what look like jellyfish on the sandy area to the rear of Kidogo Arthouse.

Bathers Beach Boardwalk
I know it’s going to look amazing but it really doesn’t look like it’s going to be finished in time for the sailing championships. I have every confidence it will be finished, or will it?, no definitely finished… definitely.
