Master flavours at Leake Street Cafeteria

Love Freo’s new favourite lunch spot is slightly hidden, but once you’ve been there you’ll return for sure. Leake Street Cafeteria is located in a narrow courtyard, which – with its metal staircase – reminds of a bit of New York. You enter the courtyard through the ‘Kakulas Sisters’ shop, just walk to the end of the shop and you’ll see where to go.

Leake Street Cafeteria is run by Toby Glass and Wade Drummond, two ambitious chefs, who have a passion for fresh ingredients and flavours. The menu is small, but tasty. We usually get the salad, which is a different one every day. Whichever we have tried so far, they have one thing in common: the ingredients are combined in such a way, that the flavours are unexpected, but totally delicious.

If you are at the cafe and think you might have seen one of the guys before, you probably have – on TV. Wade Drummond was on MasterChef a few years ago and nearly made it into the finals. Opening this cafe was Wade’s dream and he made it happen though a Kickstarter campaign (take a look at his video).
