The Black Truffle

The Black Truffle is a welcome addition to North Fremantle. Previously Vanya’s, formally Latitude 9, was the only spot to grab some lunch and a coffee. Variety is the spice of life and multiple lunch options are always good.

It’s a delicatessen so it’s more of a grab-and-go kind of place rather than a sit-down-and-eat but they have a decent selection of sandwiches (made to order) and salads. The name might suggest, truffle screams expensive to me, that this is going to be a pricey place but it’s not too bad. A large salad is $10.50 and a filled roll is $7. I can’t comment their coffee as yet but these guys pride themselves on a Italian style family feel so their coffee should to be good.

While you’re waiting for your food you can check out the other half of the store: a providore with stuff like hummus, pasta, ragu, preserves etc. to bring home.

Roll was good. But what is this place doing? I don’t understand why they would open something like this. It’s the same as every other “gormet deli”. I don’t think it will last, they need a point of difference.

They do offer a point of difference: My first purchase from there was a ‘Tur’ Italian cheese, man I had not tasted cheese that good since I was last in Europe!!!! Yumm!!!
